Building software that does something useful.
I'm Mohamed Ali Sanoussi — a developer and independent builder working across full-stack web applications, platforms, and systems. I like understanding how the layers fit together: frontend, backend, databases, APIs, deployment, and the system underneath.

Selected work
Three projects I’m actually building.
Instituly — school management platform
A platform for schools and education centres to manage students, teachers, parents, classes, resources, attendance, and day-to-day school operations from one place.
TripToshi — personalized travel planning
An AI-powered travel planner that turns a destination, budget, dates, and preferences into personalized itineraries and downloadable travel guides.
Instituly OS — a school computer environment
A dedicated operating environment designed around school computers: a locked-down interface, classroom workflows, user roles, assignments, exams, and offline-first operation instead of a generic desktop.
About
I build things because I want to understand how they work — and then make them useful to someone else.
My work moves across the full stack rather than stopping at one layer. I’m comfortable thinking about interfaces, application logic, databases, APIs, deployment, and the systems underneath them. I also use AI as a development tool: for exploring unfamiliar code, debugging, learning, and moving faster without treating generated code as a substitute for understanding it.
Build it. Understand it. Then make it simpler.
Alongside software, I’m writing practical technical books aimed at developers who want the parts that actually matter — without turning every subject into a textbook.
-
01
Understand the layers
Frontend, backend, database, API, deployment — know what each part is doing.
-
02
Build for real use
A project matters more when somebody can actually use it.
-
03
Learn by building
Small working systems are better teachers than endless tutorials.
-
04
Keep the engineering honest
Use the right abstraction, document what matters, and avoid complexity for its own sake.
Books
Technical writing for developers.
Networking for Developers
A practical guide to networking — from TCP/IP and packets to the path data takes from one machine to another. Part of the “So You Need to Know” series: the parts that actually matter, explained straight.
More technical books
More books and developer-focused guides are being written for the same series.
Blog
Notes on software, systems, and building.
The blog is being built.
It will be the place for technical notes, project write-ups, development lessons, and the things I learn while building.
Contact
Let's talk about what you're building.
For projects, collaboration, or just talking software, you can find me on GitHub. More contact channels can be added here as the sanoussi.dev identity grows.
